Join our panel talk on 25th April 2024!

Our panel talk, "Navigating the cross-regulatory chemical landscape in Denim production" will unpack the topic of holistic sustainable chemical management in denim production.

Our panellists will facilitate a conversation around the impacts within the denim industry and ways to manufacture more sustainable denim, within an exciting 360° conversation with suppliers and manufacturers in the denim industry. We  will talk about TÜV Rheinland's sustainability practices, certifications and service portfolio relevant to the sustainable future of the denim/fashion industry as well as hearing from the Denhaus Authentic Garment Makers Director on processes and measures to reduce the environmental impact.

We will also landscape the essential regulations to be watching out for when manufacturing denim and placing apparel and textiles on the European market.

Asia Pacific Sustainability Lead, TÜV Rheinland Group
In her career span of twenty-three years, she served various regional and global leadership positions to implement sustainability and has well-rounded experience across the breadth of sustainable raw materials, standards and certifications and sustainable technology to corporate sustainability, advocacy and multi-stakeholder collaborations with Fashion, Textiles, Paper, Chemicals and related industries. She has been awarded the Global Sustainability Leadership Award in 2013 by the CSR World Congress, and played an instrumental role in developing sustainability frameworks for the textile and chemical industry.

Western Europe Sustainability Manager, TÜV Rheinland Group
Luisa Balaban is the Sustainability Business Development Manager for TÜV Rheinland Western Europe and holds her role since 2023. She leads the development of sustainability-related Business Stream Products customer solutions across Climate Change, Circularity and Holistic Chemical Management. She is based in the United Kingdom, and prior to TÜV Rheinland she worked within the international Climate Action NGO WRAP and sustainability consulting driving supply-chain initiatives such as implementation and strategy for Better Cotton Initiative within apparel retailers, and retailer decarbonisation and packaging/circularity plans.

Director of Denhaus Authentic Garment Makers
Onur İtik, co-owner of a denim manufacturing company based in Istanbul, active in the industry for more than 15 years. He has worked closely with design, sales, purchasing, and production teams to enhance communication and boost business capabilities, focusing primarily on Northern European retailers and wholesalers such as JACK&JONES, VERO MODA, and ONLY. Onur has successfully managed a €40 million annual turnover by developing sustainable collections with the design team and cooperating with industry-leading fabric mills. He has also conducted workshops to increase awareness of sustainable Jeans making techniques among retail staff.

Cihan graduating from London College (BA), he started his professional career as textile production process responsible then moved on to plastic stationery production and Import&Export business. In a short time, having successfully completed retail, food chain and supermarket chain audits and achieving his PMP, he worked as Project Manager in the food industry. During 9 years of his TÜV Rheinland career, he participated in Sales, Business Development and Operation of Quality Management Systems, Product testing, ZDHC/MRSL waste water (testing, auditing, training), Social Compliance Auditing and Customized Services.
