Understanding eFiling for Certificates of Compliance

On December 18, 2024, the CPSC approved the final rule to implement eFiling for Certificates of Compliance.
This change will impact most imported consumer products and will become mandatory in the near future.
Key Topics:
- Background: eFiling will make the importation process more agile. It will become mandatory.
- Scope: The requirement will affect most imported consumer products, taking effect 18 months after publication in the Federal Register. For consumer products imported into a Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) and then entered for consumption or warehousing, a 24-month effective date will apply. The final rule is effective on January 8 2027
