Learn more about customers’ purchasing motives
In 2021, the research institute Civey conducted a representative survey on behalf of TÜV Rheinland in Germany. In the survey, 66 percent of the respondents said that "tested safety" was important to them when buying children's toys, followed by the quality of the manufacturing (59 percent). Environmental aspects – for example, ecological materials – and sustainable play value are both highly valued by around 47 percent.
The toy certification schemes of TÜV Rheinland meet these customer needs. While the GS mark for tested safety provides guidance on the subject of safety, this is more difficult when it comes to assess the play value. With the new certificate for "excellent play value," TÜV Rheinland wants to support consumers purchasing decision.
